About Ravyn

Ravyn Hutton, born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, is a multidisciplinary artist whose journey began with an intense foundation in athleticism and performance. As a child, she immersed herself in kickboxing, mixed martial arts, and all-star cheerleading, developing a deep connection with physical expression and discipline. She also participated in pageants at a young age, where her natural stage presence and love for performing began to flourish. Her earliest experiences with movement, however, were rooted in her local church, where she discovered the emotional and spiritual power of dance.

At the age of 13, Ravyn transitioned into formal dance training through community-based arts programs in her vibrant, culturally rich hometown. Her passion for the artform grew quickly, leading her to Rosa L. Parks High School of Fine and Performing Arts, where she majored in dance. Throughout high school, she trained vigorously in modern, contemporary, and jazz dance styles, studying under influential mentors and pushing her technical and creative boundaries. She also danced with The Inner City Ensemble, a local non-profit dance company focused on empowering youth through the arts, and spent summers training at the prestigious Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York City.

Following high school, Ravyn was accepted into the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where her artistic voice evolved to encompass not only dance but also film and poetry. There, she began fusing movement with storytelling, developing a signature style marked by haunting visuals and emotionally charged themes. Her work aims to leave viewers with lingering, eerie, and thought-provoking sensations.

During her time at Uarts and beyond, she became deeply involved with Chaos, a creative collective where she not only danced but also choreographed numerous original works and worked as an officer. Her time with Chaos pushed her to explore the complexities of human emotion and identity through movement, often blending surreal elements with raw, vulnerable performance.

Ravyn later earned her BFA in Dance from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), continuing to refine her skills and explore the intersection of choreography, performance, and multimedia storytelling.

Among her growing body of work is her self-directed dance film, Consumed, a powerful visual narrative exploring themes of internal struggle, transformation, and rebirth. Ravyn continues to develop projects that challenge traditional notions of dance, using her lived experience, cultural roots, and passion for multidisciplinary art to inspire and provoke.

With a foundation built on discipline, spirituality, and a fearless creative spirit, Ravyn Hutton is an artist committed to movement that speaks, questions, and resonates long after the curtain falls.
